Cubs trade Pagan to Mets
The New York Mets acquired outfielder Angel Pagan from the Chicago Cubs for a pair of minor leaguers.
Outfielder Corey Coles and right-handed pitcher Ryan Meyers were sent to the Cubs.
Pagan, 26, batted .264 with four home runs and 21 RBIs for Chicago last year.
First baseman Ben Broussard, 31, acquired in a trade from the Seattle Mariners last month, and the Texas Rangers agreed to a $3.85 million, one-year contract, avoiding arbitration. . . . The Cubs received permission to add 70 "bullpen box seats" along the third base line at Wrigley Field, and install additional signage inside the park. . . . Gerry Staley, 87, an All-Star pitcher who won 134 major league games, died last week, his son, Brian, said late Friday. Staley, who pitched for the Chicago White Sox in the 1959 World Series, was 87.
